EL PROYECTO / THE PROJECT
Disamara es un proyecto de violines, violas y violonchelos de luthier pintados a mano que surge de la idea de combinar nuestras dos profesiones para crear algo en común. Trabajamos artesanalmente para ofrecer piezas únicas que sean al mismo tiempo instrumentos de calidad y obras de arte originales.

Una sámara es un tipo de fruto con forma de ala aplanada propio de algunos árboles como el arce, el olmo o el fresno, cuya estructura favorece su dispersión por el viento. En el caso del arce, encontramos la singularidad de dos frutos unidos formando una disámara que, al girar por el aire como una hélice, consigue volar más lejos.
La madera de arce se utiliza habitualmente para construir el fondo, los aros y el mango de los instrumentos de cuerda frotada.
Disamara is a project which combines our two professions to create unique hand-painted luthier violins, violas and cellos. We produce hand-crafted pieces that are both high quality instruments and original works of art.

A samara is a type of fruit with a flattened wing shape found on certain trees such as maple, elm and ash, whose structure facilitates its dispersal by the wind. In the case of maple, we find the uniqueness of two fruits joined together to form a double samara or disámara which is able to fly further when spinning through the air like a propeller.
Maple wood is commonly used to make the back, ribs and neck of bowed instruments.
